Does God Talk to Us Through Fiction?

I had an article posted today in the Huffington Post in their Religion and Science section. I make the point that conservative Christians and New Atheists share fundamentalist assumptions about the Bible that block their participation in the science/faith discussion.

I will now sit back and wait for book and movie deals to come pouring in. Please don’t call me as I need to leave the phone lines open.

    One really cool book i read had a character in it who was seeing a psychologist b/c they thought they were a character in a book who’s life was not under their control. A great way to bring “fiction” alive i tell you. Because if our lives can be imagined as God’s fiction(how did you get such a prominent role anyway?) who’s to say other canon grade literature characters aren’t alive in some sense? The name of the book was Broom of the System by David Foster Wallace. Anywho.. thanks for all the work you do which in some mysterious way has Inspired me.
